A violent attack at a fitness studio in Duisburg Germany has left multiple people injured. On Tuesday evening, a major police operation was underway in response to the incident. The SEK and more than 100 police officers were deployed to the scene.
According to reports from the Essen police, who are leading the investigation, two perpetrators entered the fitness studio in the city centre at around 5:30 pm and indiscriminately stabbed visitors. The exact number of casualties is currently unknown, and it is unclear whether there are any fatalities.
Parts of Duisburg's city centre have been completely cordoned off, and at least two police helicopters are searching for any possible additional suspects. The incident shocked the local community and raised concerns about safety and security in public places.
The authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident, and are urging anyone with any information to come forward.
