警方今日於觀塘拘捕一名五十一歲內地男子，涉嫌「在公眾地方乞取施捨」，並檢獲一個膠桶及約一千四百元現金。觀塘特遣隊巡邏時發現該行乞男子，並有途人將錢放入其前方膠桶，他現正被扣留調查，案件由觀塘警區特遣隊跟進。
警方呼籲任何人在任何公眾地方乞取或收取施捨，均有可能觸犯《簡易程序治罪條例》，如屬第一或第二次定罪，處罰款500元及監禁一個月；如屬第三次或其後定罪，處罰款500元及監禁12個月。
A 51-year-old man from Mainland China was arrested today in Kwun Tong for allegedly begging for alms in public places. The police seized a plastic bucket and about HKD 1,400 in cash during the arrest. The man was found by the Kwun Tong special duty team during their patrol, and some passers-by were observed putting money into the plastic bucket in front of him.
The suspect is currently being detained for investigation, and the case is being followed up by the Kwun Tong police district special duty team. It is unclear at this time how long the man had been begging in public places, or if he has any prior criminal record related to this offense. The police have not released any further information regarding the incident.
