一名45歲持單程證來港定居的家庭主婦，早前因向軒尼詩公立小學校長提供一個裝有2萬元賄款的信封，為兒子爭取小一入學學位，女被告承認一項向公職人員提供利益罪被還押看管，今日於東區裁判法院判刑。
被告45歲李君萍，涉嫌於2022年7月18日，於無合理辯解下向軒尼詩官立小學校長蘿佩珊提供總值2萬元利益，主任裁判官徐綺薇今日判刑時指，雖然被告為望子成龍，為爭取兒子入讀心儀小學，但使用錯誤方法，賄賂公職人員是嚴重罪行，行為破壞社會廉潔及公義，更剝削社會上以實力向上打拼的一群，考慮及被告初犯及無案底，最後判處被告入獄4個月。
A 45-year-old woman who came to Hong Kong to settle with a one-way permit has been sentenced today in Eastern Magistrates' Courts. Earlier, the female defendant admitted to offering a $20,000 bribe to the principal of St. Xavier's Primary School in order to secure a primary one place for her son. She was charged with one count of offering an advantage to a public servant without reasonable excuse and was remanded in custody pending trial.
The defendant was accused of offering a total of $20,000 to the principal on July 18, 2022, without reasonable excuse. In delivering the sentence, Principal Magistrate stated that although the defendant was trying to give her son an advantage in education, bribing a public servant is a serious crime that undermines social justice and integrity. The behavior also exploits those who strive for success through hard work. Taking into account the defendant has no criminal record and first-time offense, the court sentenced her to four months in prison.
