早前網上流傳一條非法賽車影片，片中顯示於4月12日凌晨時分，兩私家車懷疑於未有展示車輛登記號碼，以及有車輛未有亮著車頭燈的情況下，於新娘潭一帶進行非法賽車。
新界北總區交通部執行及管制組特遣隊經初步調查，於今日凌晨採取行動，於上水區拘捕一名20歲本地男子，涉嫌多宗罪行，包括「非法賽車」、「危險駕駛」、「駕駛時沒有有效駕駛執照」、「駕駛沒有第三者保險的車輛」及「駕駛未獲發牌的車輛」。涉案私家車則被拖走，送往大欖涌汽車扣留中心作進一步檢驗。警方表示，案件仍然調查中，不排除再有人士被捕，並重申，非法賽車是嚴重罪行，涉案司機不負責任的駕駛行為，構成其他道路使用者危險，漠視他人人生安全，警方定必嚴正執法，絕不姑息。
Police Crack Down on Illegal Road Race
The police arrested a local man yesterday in connection with an illegal road race caught on video and circulated online earlier. According to the police, the video showed two private cars suspected of participating in an illegal road race in Niangniangtan area at midnight on April 12.
The Traffic Enforcement and Regulation Section of the North District Command conducted a preliminary investigation and launched a raid in the early hours of today, arresting a 20-year-old local man in Sheung Shui on suspicion of illegal racing, dangerous driving, driving without a valid license, driving without third-party insurance and driving an unlicensed vehicle. The suspect’s private cars were towed away for further inspection.
The police said the case is under active investigation and more arrests are possible. Deputy Commissioner Wong warned that illegal road racing is a serious criminal offense. The reckless driving behavior shown in the video put other road users’ lives at grave danger and will not be tolerated.
“We take illegal road racing very seriously,” Deputy Commissioner Wong said. “ drivers who disregard safety and break the law will face strict legal consequences.”
The police reiterated their zero tolerance policy against illegal road racing and appealed to the public for information on any such illegal activities. They promised prompt action on any reports from the community.
