晚上7時許，警方接獲青朗公路職員報案，指一名男子坐在汀九橋往屯門方向近橋頭位置，期後職員再報案指該名男子已墮海，救援人員趕到場，在橋下附近位置發現事主， 將他救起時已昏迷，送仁濟醫院搶救後不治。據悉男子年約五十多歲，事前曾向女兒發短訊稱不開心，懷疑他及後步行至汀九橋橋墮海。警方在現場檢獲事主遺下的一個背囊、 一些藥物及一個寫有「止麻痺藥」的藥袋。警方正調查其墮海原因。
On Ting Kau Bridge last night a man in his fifties fell into the sea and was later pronounced dead at Yan Chai Hospital. The police were alerted to the incident at around 7 pm when a staff member on Castle Peak Road reported seeing a man sitting near the bridgehead facing towards Tuen Mun. Shortly after, another report was received stating that the man had fallen into the water.
Rescue personnel arrived on the scene quickly and found the victim near the bridge, unconscious and in critical condition. He was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital for emergency treatment but was declared dead shortly after arrival. The victim had reportedly sent a text message to his daughter beforehand expressing his unhappiness, and it is believed that he walked to Ting Kau Bridge before falling into the sea.
At the scene, the police found a backpack, some medication, and a medicine bag labelled "paralyzing medication" belonging to the victim. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
